Cynthia holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MTS from Harvard Divinity School, and a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College.

Cynthia teaches Organizational Leadership and Presentation Skills for the Professional as an adjunct faculty member in the Southern Oregon University Master in Management Program. Cynthia has taught for SOU at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, and at the SOU/RCC Higher Education Center in Medford. She teaches Leadership in Action for executives in the Rogue Valley, conducts workshops for the Rogue Valley Council of Governments, and does team development and leadership coaching with individual companies.
Prior to starting Scherr Management Consulting in 1996, Cynthia was the director of marketing and strategic planning for Teaching Strategies, Inc. in Washington, DC. She has been an associate at Calvert Social Venture Partners and was a member of the Strategic Planning team for the Commission on National and Community Service.
Cynthia’s community service includes the Board of Directors of the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, and the Advisory Board for the SOU School of Business. She is a member of the Northern California Chapter of Women Corporate Directors. Formerly, she served on the Board of People’s Bank of Commerce as chair of the Governance Committee. As a past board member of the Sustainable Valley Technology Group, she continues to mentor start-up companies through a business accelerator program. Cynthia was on the SOU Foundation Board for ten years, including serving as president. In her free time, she enjoys singing with the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers.
